So, what's our bee club all about? Mostly, we are a group of really diverse characters - teachers, scientists, farmers, retired folks, environmentalists, anti-social-independent-types, needy people, nerds, geeks, and aeronautics engineers (I wonder if I left anyone out?) who have gotten together because we like honey bees. We support each other by trading ideas and equipment; we try to help our non-beekeeping neighbours through education programs, emergency swarm retrieval, apitherapy resources, honey supplies, and certainly by trying to enhance Calgary's meager supply of pollinating insects. Everyone - beekeepers and non-bee folks - is invited to join us at our meetings. You can start by contacting us through this web site!

Meetings are about every second month - please send an e-mail to find out when and where (and to get on the mailing list!)

Calgary Beekeepers' Contact People: If you've got questions, need help, or if you are just simply lonely, these are not the best people to call. But, unfortunately, we are the only ones available...
Don Miksha, Vice President

Bill Turner, Secretary

  • Publicity: Calgary Beekeepers have been trying to capture the public's attention in a positive way. During the past few years, Ron and Erika Miksha and ten thousand bees were featured on "The Big Breakfast" morning show and taught host Dave Kelly how to eat and harvest honey. We have also caught Calgary's eye by going front page in the Neighbour's newspaper supplement to the Calgary Herald. If you missed the paper, you can take a peek at the front page by checking this link: Neighbours Section.
  • Getting Started: Thinking of beekeeping in southern Alberta? We'd love to hear from you! Send an e-mail to Don, and contact the provincial apiary inspector, Dr. Medhat Nasr, for registration information.
